Nuestras Historias: Teaching Stories of America through Art is a year-long professional development opportunity for Chicago Public School teachers. The National Museum of Mexican Art offers teachers and students resources and opportunity to engage with Mexican-American art as a lens for exploring the diversity of the American experience.

Learn to enhance your teaching in core subjects through arts integration both in the classroom and in museum galleries. Count on the support of Museum’s Artists in Residence to encourage your growth with new teaching strategies in your classroom.

Participation perks:

  • Teaching Institute at the National Museum of Mexican Art on August 2-4, 2017.
  • One guided field trip for students to the Museum (September 2017 - June 2018). Free tour and bus transportation provided.
  • Teachers will develop and implement original lesson plans based on art in the Museum’s collection.
  • One week long in-classroom teaching artist residency collaboration with teacher.
  • Four Saturday workshops to support ongoing professional development throughout the year.*

*CPDUs earned for all professional development hours.

Teachers are encouraged to apply in teams of 2 or more from their school.
